REVISION STARTS

Not much was done this week,due to Christmas holiday.But when we had the chance to meet we had a revision exercise.

WEEK 10

WEB APPLICATIONS

In this web we studied about web applications and how they are been used.In addition we learnt how to manage and create web sites including the two types of web:static and dynamic web.This is very important because ,we have an assignment due for submission on the 12th week on creating a website using Google.Before this lesson i did not know how to create a websites and web pages but during the lesson i started getting the idea and am using it now with the help of my group mates  for our assignment.

WEEK 9

THE FOCUS WAS ON OUR GROUP REPORT AND BLOG.
This week not much was done during class since the submission date for our reports was almost due,so we were given the privilege to ask question about our report during lectures.In addition we were given group in class activity on case study about information systems.during the lab session our blog were checked to see if we were on the right track.And it did help me a lot because even though i was doing my blog but i was not doing what was expected of me since its my first time.

WEEK 8

Quite challenging
Week 8 was challenging because it was more technical and every detail to help in our group report on information system was basically taught in this week.Even though we already knew about the IT infrastructure and IT architecture but what we were taught about information system really helped us a lot.In week 8 more light was thrown on the advantages of information systems,its types and more elaboration was made on the definition features and importance of the various types of information system and where they are used.furthermore it is through what we where taught that my group and i decided on what information system was the best for our organization.
Moreover during the next session ,i learnt something more useful because its not only going to help me now in school but even after school.That is INFORMATION SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGY. Is all about the guidelines, steps or the various ways one has to go through to be able to arrive at the best and most efficient information system you need  in your organization and how to implement it.After careful study my group and i decided to use the structured approach(SDLC).It was through the SDLC methodology the we were able to choose the best information system needed  our company.Lessons in week 8 gave us a lot of exposure to what was needed from us in our report.

How to write bibliography
At first i never knew how to write references in the correct way but after this session ,am okay n i think its the best.My about Microsoft word has really improved.Moreover this is very important for our group report on information system.

WEEK 4

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.
It is the term that refers to all forms of technology used to create,store,exchange and use of information.Examples are:telephones,photocopiers,fax machines and medical equipments.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CONCEPT.
1. Information technology architecture:is a map or plan of the information assets in an organisation.

2.Information technology infastructure:is the physical facilities,IT componenets,IT services and IT personnel that support the organisation.

After careful study i got know and understand that,just my friend telling me a message to tell a fellow friend.Here i become the medium of communication between the two of them.So the computer is the medium for information and communication.

We humans have our own history and computers too have theirs.That is what is named as:

Just like we humans have our own evolutional processs believed by scientists,computers too have theirs.After studying this i got to know that computers just did not appear like magic but it was designed spontaneously even though it does a little magic at times.
 
 

WEEK 2

SESSION 2.
This week was a memorable one because i did my first  presentation.
                  RECAPPING:
        INFORMATION MANAGEMENT:it refers to everything that entails the managing of any kind of information.The collection and management of  information from one point to another.
It encompasses systems such as
-web content management (CM)

-records management(RM)
-digital asset management(DAM)
-learning management(LM)
-learning management system(LCM).
Problems of information management:
-Large number of disparate information management system.
-Poor quality of  information,including lack of consistency,duplication and out-of-date information.
-Range of legacy system requiring upgrading or replacement.
-Little integration or coordination between information systems.
PRESENTATION.

Wow,its my fist time doing a power point presentation.
Even though it felt a little bit awkward but i managed to pull through and the feeling was great,trying a new thing for the first time.

WEEK ONE

 SESSION ONE.
  After this session i knew what data and information was all about.Then data integrity,roles of information,the economics of information and it and its explanation and computer operations.
                 RECAPPING:
                                          Data is raw facts and can  be in the form of numbers, pictures,characters symbols,pictures  and sounds.
INFORMATION:is data that is organized and meaningful and can be used in making decisions.
Data is the input for processing and information is the output of processing.

Data integrity is the degree to which data is correct.(garbage in ,garbage out)this means if your data is wrong ,automatically your information will also be wrong.

Information  is used in decision making,influencing ,persuading and as a capital resource companies.
Economics of information and IT:information has two basic elements,reach and richness.
Reach means the number of people exchanging information.
Richness means the amount of quality information circulating in transaction.It has three components :bandwidth,customization interactivity.

 Week one:First time ever doing this blog thing.
Life is all about taking challenges,back in my country i never knew what blog was but now i have been exposed to it and it's interesting.After this topic ,i have learnt and understood a lot about data,information and information management
 

EXPERIENCE THEY SAY ITS THE BEST TEACHER.

MY FIRST EXPERIENCE IN ALBUKHARY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY.

 

Coming to AIU is the most important decison i have ever made in my life. I say this because of what i have witnessed in AIU.when i first got to AIU, i knew for the first time in my life i was going to sleep outside my house in a different country where i knew nobody.but i mustered courage because there is a saying that what you have achieved is not greater than what are yet to accomplish.

  Even though i really appreciate the fact that i am here,it is the mind set behind my coming to AIU that is the most important to me.That is to get a degree so as to become a better person in future.  The first thing that caught my breath in AIU is the infastructure the building among many others.Then the hospitality i recieved from both the staff and the students was beyond my imagination.
  Futhermore as time went by i got to meet other students from different countries,see different types of traditions and cultures.Then i noticed that the respect we have for each otherhas created the peaceful and harmonised environment that we live in AIU.
   The orientation week was very interesting.It made me to believe that AIU is really a home away from home.The corporation between the staff and the students is really worth commending.
  My first day in class is full of memories that i love.I clearly recall me saying to myself that "am here to make a difference so am going for it".

  I have really come to the conclusion that everyone is like family in AIU.
