We humans have our own history and computers too have theirs.That is what is named as:
Evolution of computers;

pre computers and early computers(before 1940s):Abacus-earliest calculating device.

                                                                            

first generation (1940-1950):vacuum tubes.

Second generation(1950-1964):Transistors.William Shockley and Walter Brittain invented the transistor.                                                               

Third generation(1964-1974):Integrated Circuits.                                                                                

 Fourth generation(1974-present):VLSI/ULSI
Integrated circuits( microchip)
-VLSI=very large -scale integration
-ULSI=ultra large scale integration
Fifth generation .
-It's based on artificial intelligence.Its the current computers we use now.It's made in such a way that it can think,reason and learn.

Computers are categorise base on size,capability and price.
It's all about the history of computers
Just like we humans have our own evolutional processs believed by scientists,computers too have theirs.After studying this i got to know that computers just did not appear like magic but it was designed spontaneously even though it does a little magic at times.
